We started 'Sunflowers Nursery' in September 2000 as we saw a need for an efficient, professional and caring nursery. We set about recruiting the best staff who have a multitude of skills and talents which are well employed at Sunflowers. Our management team consists of two very experienced Managers and two Heads of Units who together ensure the smooth running of the nursery. There is always a member of management on hand to discuss any aspects of your child's care and development.
The nursery staff are qualified or working towards their qualification, they are chosen for their caring skills and their ability to interact with babies and young children. Some of our staff have been with us since we opened. Our philosophy is to employ and retain quality staff. All staff are police checked and hold a First Aid certificate, as well as many other relevant qualifications.
Each area has a Head of Room who are responsible for the efficient running of their room. We have a key person system which ensures we meet the needs of every child.
The ancillary/support staff/administration, cooks, cleaner and maintenance are not only chosen for their ability to do a good job but also for their understanding of babies and young children.
As a successful and highly regarded nursery many colleges choose to send their students to us for a part of their training. Students provide a valuable input into the nursery and enrich the environment but they are always supervised and are not counted in the ratios of staff to children.
